What is Therapeutic Riding?

Therapeutic riding offers individuals with special needs the opportunity to experience a horse in a safe, controlled environment. Horseback riding improves the social, emotional, physical and cognitive well-being of a child with special needs.

What is PATH Certification?

The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship was founded in 1969. It’s an international organization of professionals dedicated to the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding and any equine assisted services, such as physical and occupational therapy, carriage riding and equine assisted learning programs. PATH International is the certifying organization for instructors and centers in equine-assisted therapy. The certification trains instructors and holds centers to international standards of safety, effectiveness and ethics.

How do I know if therapeutic riding at possibilities horsemanship is right for my child?

Every student is unique. We believe in setting individualized programs that focus on the needs of each student. Our programs are designed to meet the diverse needs of our students through a gentle, safe and fun equine experience. Students both care for a horse and perform physical activities on horseback under the supervision and guidance of a PATH certified instructor. We invite you to bring your child to meet our therapeutic horses. Meeting a horse is an almost magical experience, especially for a special needs child. We’re confident our program at Possibilities Horsemanship can benefit any child with special needs.
